Aunjanue Ellis

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is an American screen and stage actress best known for her film roles in Ray Undercover Brother and on the television show The Mentalist. She graduated with a BA in African-American Studies from Brown University and an MFA in acting from the Tisch School of Arts New York University. Aunjanue Ellis works as a producer and actress, who is active in the fields of theater, film, and television. Her career in acting began at the theater. Then she appeared on numerous television shows, independent films and mainstream films. She gained acclaim as Miranda Shaw on ABC's Quantico and appeared on BET's epic series The Book of Negroes for which she received not just praise from critics but also numerous awards and nominations including the Television Critics Choice Award nomination for the Best Actress in a Film. In 1995, she was the first actress to make her debut in The Tempest as Ariel. She has performed in Broadway with roles in Come and Gone, A Winter's Tale, Drowning Crow as well as Seeking the Genesis. The film work she has done is appreciated for films such as Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express, and The Help. The role she plays on TV on ABC's drama series about police High Incident has earned her high praise.
